This is the first section for our Mother Earth – Sacred Ground quilt. It’s based on a picture that has been the home page for my teaching site (www.gerryeitner.com) for some years now. I wanted this to set the energy for this project, and yet, I’m not a quilter. Kirstan Shelton, who has studied intensely with me, suggested that her grandmother Valentina Roth might be interested. Indeed she was, and will be sending in her own story of her experience in doing this. It’s powerful.
I had been the “shepherdess” of the highly successful Children’s Cloth of Many Colors for 19 years or so. The project started when our organization donated and dedicated a peace pole for the Pentagon. It still stands there in the prayer room. I received Divine guidance that day, from Jesus’ mother Mary that the children’s peace quilt project was mine to take on, because I was a woman and a mother. That Divine guidance also meshed with other “guidance from above” over the years, calling me Mother and telling me that I had a mission on the earth- to help nurture people here to their next stage of spiritual evolution.
Over the years, I experienced firsthand the growing power of this project. It was a different kind of power --- never competitive, egotistical or dominating, but always positive, creative, catalyzing the possible, and facilitating connection among people. It was healthy. The adults who participated along with the children all sensed the energy and opened to it; reflecting it. I realized that it had to do with innocence, positive focus, and creativity.
This simple visual then opened doors. Thousands of children from 32 countries participated. It was a first step toward many creative ventures. The first section hung in the US congress, related to a movement for a Dept. of Peace. Other sections were shown at the United Nations, foreign embassies, and at many venues. Communities of Peace was founded, incorporating this movement along the way. Major media paid attention --- Wall St. Journal, Washington Post, Washington Star, international and local media. Incidents of “miracles” were experienced. It attracted the interest and participation of major political and diplomatic people as well.
I began considering the idea of “What is the Real Power?” What energy and values are needed now, in our world today? A major part of my consideration was placed on the feminine, and climate change. The focus on our earth as “Mother Earth” and with the qualities of the feminine/mother (nurturing, sustaining, providing, sacrificing for her children) began emerging in my awareness.
I didn’t want to be coming from an aggressive, victim or a retaliator place with the male-female issue. But I did indeed want to emphasize the qualities of the feminine, the Mother, and find a way to bring these energies forward now in a stronger way. I felt that this movement could move us all to a next evolutionary stage --- one that is increasingly being seen as needed. You might call this Harmony rather than hierarchal or dictatorial.
I do hope that you’ll decide to join us in what we’re attempting to do!
With love,
Dr. Gerry Eitner
President, Communities of Peace
This project is modeled after our highly successful Children’s Cloth of Many Colors. You can read more about it here
Directions for your section:
Overview:
Each section of the quilt is intended to represent the quilt section creator’s love and connection with Mother Nature in some way. We you illustrate this, please include your intention to take some kind of positive action related to what you are picturing. Please also include your feelings of love. This love gives your quilt piece a special creative power. Our prior quilt project was known to create “miracles” --- even by the Wall St. Journal!
Donations to this project are greatly appreciated. You can do this at https://communitiesofpeace.org/donate
The Children's Cloth of Many Colors was initiated by an eight year old girl when our organization dedicated a peace pole for the Pentagon. Based on a concept initiated by "Peace Troubadour" Jimmy Twyman, the project is comprised of yard-square sections made by groups of children. With its initial focus on peace, the project has grown to include sections from thousands of children in 32 countries. It has made a significant difference in the lives of many people, and has even been said to create "miracles" by major media sources.

I’m Gerry Eitner, president of Communities of Peace, and initiator of the first section for our “Mother Earth – Sacred Ground” quilt section. Although I’m not a quilter myself (you’ll see the rest of the story later) I was fortunate to find two
collaborators to help bring this to fruition!

As “shepherdess” of our prior children’s peace quilt, I was privileged to experience some of the many “miracles” for which this project became known, even by the Wall St. Journal. With this background, I’m sure that this one will do even more. These wonderful experiences are already beginning.
The picture for this first section has been on my personal teaching website, for a number of years – for a reason. As a mystic since childhood, the Divine Feminine has played an important part in my own life for many years. I’ve received Divine guidance that this is my role – that of The
Mother, holding the earth and its children, in my energy. Thus, I relate deeply to this picture.
Every one of you who participates in this project contributes to this Mother energy, each in your own way. The nurturing, caring, enfolding qualities of your love are greatly needed now.
With love,
Gerry Eitner

save the earth and green initiative, there is so much more to realize. We are not from the earth, we are the earth. Everything fits with everything else. We are interdependent and cannot thrive without out Everything else and vice versa.
That puts a new prospective on life.
The project theme and the creation of the first quilted unit for this event presented multiple
challenges as well as enjoyment, uppermost depicting Mother Earth's energy being received by the planet as well as all of its residents. Secondly, the depiction of that energy being projected from the earth back out into the universe. Being a quilter I felt that each element within the design needed to be tactile as well as visual. I have found that this project is so multifaceted that the creative process and execution are limited only by the person visualizing it.
I do hope and encourage everyone, from children to the seasoned persons who claim to be "not
creative enough"; to give second thoughts and let your imagination flow.
PARTICIPATE- let the light of your creativity show.

In the summer of 2021, I was at a breaking point in my life. I began searching for someone to work with to help guide me through rediscovering myself, then finding peace and joy. When I came across Gerry, I knew instantly that she was the one. It has completely changed my life.
At one point, Gerry mentioned that she was looking for someone to make a quilt for a project that she was working on. She showed me this beautiful picture of mother earth bent over the earth and lovingly placing her hands on the round globe. I knew instantly who would be able to tackle making a quilt of this magnitude – my grandmother Valentina Roth. She has been teaching women how to quilt for as long as I have known her.
This quilt represents much more than just fabric sown together in a pretty design. The making of this quilt has connected three beautiful women in a way that never would have happened. It’s an opening to bring forth more pieces of quilts, more conversations, deep connections, creation, contemplation of what mother earth means to each one of us. I look forward to seeing how this project grows!
